Mercy Ministry
Mercy Ministry is the compassionate relief of human suffering/need in Jesus’ Name. “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36). When we see ourselves in light of the gospel, we see that we are to be merciful first because this is God’s character and we are called to be like Him, and second, because God has been merciful to us.
Showing compassion and mercy can take a variety of forms in our church and in our community. While it may look different for each Christian, Jesus calls each of his followers to be like their Father in heaven in showing mercy to people (Matthew 25:31-46).
In a healthy church people care for one another’s physical, practical, financial and emotional needs in spontaneous acts of compassion and mercy. We are not looking to circumvent or replace existing personal efforts in this area but because of the priority of showing mercy in God’s Word, we believe it is essential for a local church to have structural components in place to better enable the sharing of resources with those in need. We are looking to facilitate finding and meeting practical needs within our congregation. We would like to enable our congregation to express their love gifts. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24).
- We are looking for those who would find joy in expressing their gifts of helps, serving, mercy and giving. If you have a desire to serve others with your gifts and abilities, please let us know. We will look to inventory abilities and match them with needs as they arise.
- If you are in need of help, we ask that you contact us at our confidential email address. We realize that it is difficult for most to ask for help but we encourage you to do so.
- If you know of someone in need of help, please contact us as well. Typically we will need your support in working with the person who is in need of assistance.
